Former Big Brother Naija star Angel Smith has responded to criticism following the circulation of a video showing her in an affectionate moment with a fellow woman.

Earlier, popular blog Gistlover shared that the mystery lady seen in the video with Angel is British-Nigerian rapper and singer Oluwafisayo Isa, better known as Darkoo. The clip, which showed the two in a warm and intimate embrace, quickly went viral and sparked speculation about Angel’s sexuality.

Taking to Snapchat, Angel addressed the backlash, stating that being labeled a lesbian isn’t the insult some people believe it to be. She highlighted the hypocrisy of a society that tolerates more serious issues like pedophilia but chooses to focus on her personal relationships.

Reaffirming her stance, the reality star made it clear that she is an adult and has every right to live her life on her terms.

“Nigerians discover that other people don’t share the same politics as them and then lose their minds, like wow calling me a lesbian is not the gag you think it is not is it an insult, bad news my fine ass”

Mind you, this is my life. You people did not come upon some secret thing. I posted it myself, and I let my friends post it because guess what? It’s probably shocking, but can you imagine that this is my life, and I’m an adult, and I can do whatever I like?

And that is shocking again; I am not homophobic, and did you guys also know that because you think something is bad doesn’t mean the other person shares the same beliefs as you?
