Kechi Okwuchi, one of the two survivors of the tragic Sosoliso plane crash that killed 60 students of Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja has paid a glowing tribute to her late colleagues in a post on her X account.

Okwuchi in the post described the students who lost their lives on December 10, 2005, as "angels".

She prayed that they continue to watch over her and the other survivors to make memories on their behalf.

Her remembrance post reads: “Dear 60 Angels of Loyola Jesuit College, 18 years have now passed since the Sosoliso plane crash that took your lives among other dear souls, while sparing mine and 1 other. 2023 is almost over. Another year, another new set of milestones."

She continued: "I found myself on new platforms and stages with incredible people, I FINALLY graduated with my MBA and started a whole 2nd career, and I still get to travel sing, and share our story with new audiences. With each passing year, every experience, good and bad, has so much more impact and meaning to me."

She added: "I live more in the moment and I take less for granted. Angels, thank you for watching over me all this time. Please keep watching! I will continue to live more experiences and make more memories. For us. Continue to rest in peace????️”

18 years ago, Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145 crashed at about 14:08 local time while landing in stormy weather at Port Harcourt International Airport.

The flight left Abuja for Port Harcourt carrying 110 people.

The captain of the McDonnell Douglas DC-9-32 was 48-year-old Benjamin Adekunle Adebayo.

Many passengers survived the initial impact but died as a result of the fire, while other passengers later died from their injuries.

Port Harcourt Airport had one fire truck and no ambulances. None of the seven crew members survived the crash.

Among the passengers were about sixty secondary school students from Loyola Jesuit College in Abuja.

Out of the 60 teenagers from the school, 59 were killed, with Kechi Okwuchi being the only survivor from her school.

Kechi Okwuchi was one of two survivors of the plane crash that killed 107 passengers in 2002.

Kechi graduated with a First Class degree from the University of Thomas Houston, Texas 2015.

Apart from being inducted into six academic honor societies, she was the most outstanding student for her major in Economics and has already been accepted into graduate school for her MBA.
