Renowned Nigerian human rights lawyer and activist Femi Falana has reportedly contacted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to demand the release of detained social critic VeryDarkMan.
The revelation was made on Wednesday by VeryDarkMan’s counsel, Deji Adeyanju, in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He wrote: “I have now confirmed that contrary to my previous post the other day that our revered leader and mentor, Femi Falana, SAN, has made several calls to EFCC challenging VDM’s unlawful arrest and detention.”
It will be recalled that Adeyanju had, on Monday, criticised Falana for his perceived silence regarding VeryDarkMan’s continued detention, which he described as unlawful.
Falana’s intervention comes despite an ongoing legal dispute between his family and VeryDarkMan.
The Falana family had filed a N1 billion defamation suit against VeryDarkMan following the circulation of a leaked voice recording in which popular crossdresser Bobrisky allegedly claimed that musician Falz contacted him while in jail, offering to help secure a presidential pardon for N10 million through his father.
