Ghanaian entrepreneur and journalist Afua Asantewaa Aduonum is attempting to shatter the record for the longest individual singing marathon.
Afua has been singing Ghanaian songs back-to-back at the Akwaaba village, Accra in an effort to surpass the Guinness World Record held by Sunil Waghmare, an Indian who sang for 105 hours in March 2012.
Afua is scheduled to conclude her voyage on December 27, having begun at midnight on December 24. This implies that she will be singing continuously for four days and nine hours.
The mother of two has been entertaining the crowd in the Akwaaba hamlet with consecutive performances of Ghanaian songs. A-list singers and politicians have also arrived to support her.
The vice president of Ghana Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was also present to lend his support.
Afua's attempt was made a few days after some musicians from Ghana demanded that songs from their country be promoted over the holiday season.
The 2023 Christmas in Ghana seems to have been a remarkable experience due to the event-leading trends on Ghanaian social media.
Afua has received praise for her efforts from a number of social media users and attendees of the little event.
