Afro-beats saved me from the gutters – Samvail

Fast rising Nigerian singer, song writer and performing artiste, Samuel Essah Ogenyi, better known by his stage name Samvail, has been on the steady rise since he dropped his debut single titled ‘Oluwa Said Ok’, in 2016, a Kue Bounce produced hit.

Since then, the Dubai-based music-maker who recently lampooned the Nigerian federal government for banning popular social media platform, Twitter, advising Buhari and his cabinet to rescind the decision which he described as “stifling the citizens of their rights’, has been successfully grappling with the hard knocks of the ever competitive music industry.

Recounting his musical sojourn since his debut, Samvail, who sees himself as one of the most influential artists from Africa in the UAE and as a Nigerian force to be reckoned with in Dubai revealed that the Afro-beats music genre saved him from the gutters.

He noted, “Recalling how I got to where I’m today reminds me of the fact that hard work, consistence and belief in one’s self actually pays off in the long run. When I started making Afro-beat music, it was like child’s play, but today I can confidently say that Afro-beats saved me from the gutters.”

“Who knows what my fate would have been if I hadn’t ventured into making music and putting it out when I did? Truth be told, it wasn’t easy, because some people may be tempted to think that it’s so easy for we musicians, it’s not that easy; it takes a lot, a lot is involved that the public eye doesn’t see.”

“However, I’m grateful to God for bringing me this far, I can’t say I have fully achieved my music career dreams, but I can confidently say I’m on the right track, I’m getting there gradually”, he concluded.
