The actress said she would work together with some people to achieve her goal in empowering women.

Nollywood actress Ini Edo has been named as the ambassador for women’s empowerment of the National Democratic Institute (NDI).

NDI is a non-profit organisation that works with partners in developing countries to increase the effectiveness of democratic institutions.

The actress was appointed as part of the organisation's goal to increase women’s representation in public office and also to address every obstacle to women's participation in the nation’s political space.

Responding to her appointment, Ini said that she would work hand-in-hand with influential Nigerians to ensure that women fully participate in the country's electoral system.

According to her, she would bring people like former women heads of state, and other NGOs on board to achieve the set goal.

“I won’t be alone; we all will be united in the cause of amending laws to enable women to compete successfully for elected office in our country," she said.

The film star also noted that she would address the problem of violence against women especially during elections in her new capacity.

Meanwhile, a few weeks ago, the actress was reappointed as special assistant on Culture and Tourism in Akwa Ibom.

The actress shared stunning photos to announce her reappointment while thanking her fans and followers for their constant support.

In the photos, she was spotted rocking a pair of structured pants and a stylish suit jacket. The actress went on to state that she was looking forward to 'great accomplishment and milestones in the new era'.

The actress in another post stated that it was about time the youths of Nigeria get included in the running of the country's affairs. She further urged people to never give up the good fight.

Ini also noted that women should join in the fight to ensure that Nigeria becomes the country of their dreams. She encouraged them to keep dreaming, keep praying and investing in themselves.
