Actor, Mr Ibu undergoes major surgery

Veteran Nollywood actor John Okafor popularly known as Mr. Ibu, has had two significant surgeries.

The development was disclosed on Tuesday morning by Jazmine Okafor, the adoptive daughter of the comic actor, on Instagram.

Recall that on Tuesday, October 17, the seasoned actor celebrated his 63rd birthday in an undisclosed hospital in Lagos.

However, in an Instagram video, he announced that he required financial assistance to prevent the amputation of his leg.

He had said: “I have been down for so many weeks, all I’m hoping for is your prayers and assistance. I’ve been in the hospital, as I speak to you, I’m still lying down in the hospital.

“The medical director says in case his new idea didn’t work, the best idea is to cut off my leg, just see me, if they cut off my leg where will I go to? Please be on prayers for me, talk to God Almighty, I don’t want my leg to be cut off. God bless you”

Jazmine provided an update on her father's health, stating that the actor attempted to joke around as if nothing had happened.

According to her, this is the strongest she has seen him in three weeks.

She wrote: “Never seen anyone so strong… even after two major surgeries, you were still trying to be funny like nothing happened, even in your lowest you still cracked jokes! I promise you, if there’s a God in heaven, you are getting out of this bed, stronger and alive. This is the strongest I have seen you in 3 weeks and I’m so excited! Fight this and get well soon, sweet papa.”
