63-year-old man defiles two-year-old girl in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 63-year-old man, Sunday Igbinokhuaihe for defiling a two-year-old girl.

The unfortunate incident occurred in Urhonigbe in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state, where the suspect happens to be a neighbour to the parents of the victim.

It's been alleged that the suspect used a loaf of bread to lured the little girl into his room, thereafter inserting his finger to break her hymen as the child's mother was preparing dinner in the kitchen.

According to the mother of the little girl, whiles she attempted to bathe her later in the evening, she noticed her daughter screamed.

After the little girl described the incident to her mother, she raised an alarm and immediately reported the matter to the Urhonigbe Police Station.

The suspect was arrested and transferred to Abudu Police Division and later to the State Criminal Investigation Department where he is detained pending the result of the investigations.

Command’s spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect, noted that the police had completed the investigation into the issue and the suspect would appear in court in the course of the week.
