3 reasons why Basketmouth's divorce announcement could be publicity stunt

Social media went into a frenzy the moment veteran comedian Bright Okpocha who is popularly called Basketmouth announced the end of his 12-year marriage to Elsie.

The news dominated the news cycle as friends, celebrity colleagues and fans waded into the conversation.

In a post on his official Instagram page, Basketmouth wrote: “For the first and the last time. As much as it pains me to bring my personal life to the public space, this is an unavoidable situation. After much deliberation, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage. As we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children all the care, love, guidance and support they need.”

He went on to further make a humble request for the netizens to respect their privacies as they navigate through these difficult times.

He also disabled his comment section on Instagram. Basketmouth and Elsie got married and have four children between them.

While there is no major update on their relationship, Nigerians on social media have begun to speculate as many questions about the truth behind Basketmouth's announcement.

Social media have been left to guess as Elsie has also not confirmed the reports.
