There’s indication that the evacuation of Nigerian students out of Sudan has encountered hitches.

A video circulating online and obtained by DAILY POST showed that the buses evacuating the Nigerian students and non-students were stopped in the middle of the Sahara desert.

A voice narrating the incident in the video claimed that the drivers refused to continue the journey because they were not paid.

The video was posted by a Twitter handle, Dr Ahmad Small and shared by former lawmaker, Shehu Sani on his verified Twitter handle.

Dr Ahmad Small wrote, “The buses evacuating Nigerian students and non-students were stopped in the middle of the Sahara, and the drivers refused to continue the journey because they were not PAID. @abikedabiri @nemanigeria @FMHDSD @nidcom_gov @NigeriaMFA

“Students crying out in this video.”

Recall that the e Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved 1.2million dollars for the immediate evacuation of the Nigerians stranded in war torn Sudan.

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, the amount would be spent on the hiring of 40 luxury buses that will transport the stranded Nigerians from Khartoum, Sudan, to Egypt, from where they will be airlifted to Nigeria.
