The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Mission in Dubai, is set to visit a Nigerian who reportedly requires urgent medical attention while in detention in Dubai.

Obinna Chibuzo was arrested three months ago for attempting to travel with a fake passport, according to reports, and had been in detention since.

A Twitter user, @omokehinde___, who appeared to have alerted the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission - NIDCOM on the issue via Twitter revealed that "Obinna has heart problems and he's been in detention without medical care. Obinna is dying."

In response, NIDCOM, chaired by Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, revealed the response from the Nigerian Mission in Dubai:

"This case has been confirmed that the said person is in detention at Al Gharb Police Station, Sharjah.

"He was arrested on 23rd Jan 2020 for presenting fake documents and has been charged to court. He would be paid a Consular visit tomorrow.

"And arrangement has also been made to meet with the Prosecutor handling the case too.

"The police have however denied that he has been refused medical attention. But we will investigate further and give you feedback as soon as possible of developments.

"Thank you for always coming through for all our brothers and sisters in the Diaspora. Together we will #HelpObinna"
