The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, on Tuesday said some tertiary institutions assisted fake graduates to mobilise for the National Youth Service Corps programme.

According to him, most of the illegitimate mobilisation for the NYSC is perpetrated in collaboration with the students’ affair units or the registries of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Oloyede spoke while declaring open the 2021 Batch ‘A’ Pre-mobilisation workshop with the theme, ‘Enhancing the NYSC mobilisation process in the face of contemporary challenges,’ at the Global Village Suites and Conference Centre in One-man Village, Mararaba, Nasarawa State.

Oloyede said, “Institutions of learning are a veritable tool of corrupting the NYSC mobilisation. Eight in every culprit will be traceable to institutions of learning. I can say it anywhere because you know that I am not an enemy of the institutions and I know what I am talking about.

“The truth is that we are more often than not culpable. Most of the illegitimate mobilisation could not have been done without active collaboration of the student affairs or the registries of our various institutions.

“Of course, JAMB also plays a role in it. I work for JAMB; I don’t have any reason to hate the organization, but the truth is that I know that at least few, no matter how few they are that are our staff members who are also part of the ring.”
