Standard Chartered Bank board chair,Sir Remi Omotosho, is dead

Chairman of the Board at Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria, Sir Remi Omotosho has passed on at the age of 75, MyNigeria.com reports.

Sir Omotoso who chaired Standard Chartered's board since September 2013 till date died on Friday morning after a battle with a brief illness Lagos hospital.

He was a seasoned administrator and industry leader in Nigeria’s financial sector.

The deceased was the Logistics Controller 1983-1986; HR Director 1987-1992; Customer Service Director 1992-1997; External Relations Director 1998. all positions in Unilever Nigeria.

Omotoso also served in top management positions in the last four decades which includes DN Meyer Paints and Greenwich Trust Limited; as well as Group Managing Director of Odua Investment Company Limited and Director General/Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry at different times.

He was also chairman, PPP Committee of Ekiti during Governor Kayode Fayemi's first tenure and served actively in the state COVID-19 Response Resource Mobilisation Committee, where he was Chairman of the Funds Management and Evaluation Committee and the Federal Government Relations Committee.

He bagged a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree at the University of Ibadan. He also holds a degree in advanced management from Duke University, USA.

Sir Omotosho had his elementary education in his home town, Ode-Aiyedun Ekiti, in the present Ekiti State.

He later attended Methodist Teacher Training College, Grade Three, at Ifaki-Ekiti. He then proceeded to the University of Ibadan, where he studied Geography.
