Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has urged all Muslims in the state to abide by the social distancing measures during the period of Ramadan.

This is to help in the fight against the spread of the deadly coronavirus virus that has infected almost 1000 persons in the country.

With at least 29 cases in Ogun, Dr. Abiodun, while welcoming Muslim faithful to the holy month, noted that "the wellness of our neighbours" is of top priority.

"I join all Muslims in Ogun State to welcome the Holy Month of Ramadan.

"The period offers all faithful, time for spiritual growth and reflection, family bonding, and dedication to the community.

"As we offer our prayers to Almighty Allah (SWT), let us be reminded of the humanitarian side of the season: to have in mind, the wellness of our neighbours. This ensures that we comply with measures aimed at curbing the spread of the killer Coronavirus.

"This should check our conduct during the season, as we continue to comply with distancing and hygiene measures," the governor said.
