The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to a video showing a crowd booing the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), during his visit to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The President paid the state a visit following the killing of 30 persons and the burning of 18 vehicles by Boko Haram insurgent on Sunday.

A video, which surfaced online, shows a crowd booing the President's convoy with chants in Hausa expressing their rejection of the presidential visit.

A statement by PDP’s spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, sees the party making a mockery of the situation.

It reads in part: “Booing of President Buhari in Borno State is a clear message to him that Nigerians hold him responsible for the escalated insecurity in the country.

”The booing also shows a loss of confidence in the Buhari Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).”

The party also advised Buhari to visit other states like Kaduna, Kano, Benue, Plateau, Yobe, Adamawa, Zamfara, Kogi, Niger, Taraba and other states to “face the feelings of Nigerians as well as view the national devastation his poor handling of security and infrastructure has caused our nation.”
