A Nigerian teen who hugged Meghan Markle has written an open letter to her husband Prince Harry.

Aker Okoye made headlines after he wore an amused look when he hugged Meghan Markle who paid his East London school a surprise visit.

The Duchess of Sussex visited Robert Clack Upper School in celebration of Women's Day, but the spotlight was stolen by Aker who gave her a hug to the amusement of his classmates.

The hug from Aker who is the school's head boy was followed by a round of applause from his peers.

“She really is beautiful. I had to speak the truth there”, Aker told his peers when he mounted the stage to deliver a speech.

He was later praised by Meghan Markle for his “incredible confidence”.

Aker who spoke to The Sun revealed that it was "the best day of his life so far".

“I’ve written the letter to make sure Harry doesn’t have a problem with it and to say sorry really and that I hope he didn’t mind".

He added that his overzealous approach was found to be funny by Meghan Markle

“Meghan found it funny and I’m sure Harry will as well. When she asked which brave young man wanted to do a talk I jumped at the chance.

“I leapt up there. I thought it would be proper protocol to give her a cuddle. It’s all a blur.”

The letter which was published by The Sun reads:

'Dear Harry and Meghan. Harry, hope you don't mind me writing this letter,' he wrote.

'I hope you didn't mind me cuddling your wife. I was just overwhelmed and shocked to see her arrive at my school.

'It was a pleasure to hear her speech and to speak in front of her as well. She is truly inspirational.'
