The Lagos State Government on Wednesday said it was collaborating with the School of Transport, Lagos State University, to find solutions to transport challenges in the state.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, said this during a visit by the LASU transport school to his office.

He said, “The academia needs to raise the bar and take the study of transportation deeper and higher by coming up with solutions peculiar to the state. Agencies under the Ministry of Transportation will work together with the LASU School of Transport to effectively transform the sector. The Lagos State Transport policy will be inaugurated by the end of the year in line with the THEMES agenda of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration.”

The Head of Department, Transport technology and Infrastructure, Dr Taiwo Salaam, said, “The school is moving towards research and innovation. The ministry should create room to accommodate and engage the transport professionals being groomed by the school by pushing for transportation cadre to cover all the various aspects of the sector ranging from technology and infrastructure to policymaking and research.”

Similarly, the Dean of the school, Prof. Charles Asenime, noted that the involvement of the government with the school would boost the knowledge and creativity of the students in the sector.
