Few of the things to beware of in Computer Village Ikeja

Computer Village Market Computer Village Market

Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos, is a technology hub where anything that has to do with computers and the internet can be found. From accessories to softwares, the surest market to find such is Computer Village.

However, the market also leaves customers with horrible experiences from people which this article advises to avoid.

1.) Scammers.

These people exist in different ways. One of such are those who sell fake phones to customers. They are usually seen hanging on roadsides at the market. When they approach you, they show you a phone at a price way cheaper than what the phone is really worth. Once they see that you are interested, they take you to a corner to bargain. Immediately you pay them, they hand a phone to you and tell you to leave immediately before police comes. It is when you get a bit far from the spot that you get to realize that what they handed to you is not what you were shown. They simply handed the case of that same brand of phone to you which they stuffed with starch to make it weight like a real phone. So when next you find yourself in Computer Village, don't patronize roadside sellers or hawkers because most of then are fraud.

2.) Tattooists

These set of guys have nothing to do with technology and so have no business hanging around the hub. However, you get to see them close to the Ikeja bridge pulling the hands of people on their way to the market to buy stuff. They beckon on them to come for cheap tattoos, body piercing and pink lips. The danger with then is that the tools they use are either not sterilized or not properly done. This can lead to diseases and infections.

3.) Police

Right inside Computer Village is a police station where trade issues are solved. Sadly, most cases taken to the police station by customers against traders are never solved in their favor even when the customers are right and the traders are wrong. This is because the police officers are familiar with the traders and may even be getting bribes from them. This makes dragging a shady trader to the police station a waste of effort.

4.) Pick-pockets

I've personally fallen victim to this in 2017. Close to the bridge at Computer Village is a park where buses load passengers before taking off. The park is usually crowded with passengers at evening time when the market is about closing. The pick-pockets in the market take avantage of the situation to relieve people of the belongings. My phone got stolen while I and others where rushing to board one of the buses. The criminals behind it also went ahead to use my SIM card to steal money from my bank account.

The above are just a few of the the things to beware of when going to shop at Computer Village
