Nigerian politician, Femi Fani-Kayode, has commended Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, for rescuing Joy Nunieh from illegal house arrest by security operatives.

MyNigeria.com reported that Nunieh who was billed to appear before the House Committee on NDDC to give her account on the allegations of misappropriation in the Commission was placed under house arrest by security officials on Thursday morning.

Subsequent report added that the state governor, Nyesom Wike, stepped in by showing up at her Port-Harcourt residence and ordered the operatives to release her.

Commending Wike's effort, Fani-Kayode took to his official Twitter account to pen his statement.

"Gov. Wike saved Joy Nunieh's life today. The police raid on her house at 4.00am was illegal & was NOT backed by a warrant or authorised by the I-G. It was simply an attempt to abduct & possibly kill her.

"Wike arrived on the scene, broke the siege & saved her life. I commend him," he said.

Recall that Nunieh had accused the Minister of Niger Delta, Senator Godswill Akpabio, of corruption, sexual harassment, pipelines bombing, abuse of office, among others.
