EVACUATION: More stranded Nigerians to return from UAE, says Dabiri

The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa has said that the country will evacuate more stranded citizens from the United Arabs Emirate (UAE).

Dabiri made this known on her official Twitter handle today after confirming the arrival of an additional 331 evacuees from the UAE.

"More return home from the UAE . There will be a couple of more flights from the UAE as the mission is working towards beating the Aug 17 deadline given by the country for all illegal residents to leave," she tweeted.

MyNigeria.com reported earlier, quoting NODCOM, that the number of evacuees from the UAE to a total of 2,042.

Earlier, an Emirate Airline flight conveying the 331 starnded Nigerians touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja around 1424HRS.

The commission also informed that "All Evacuees tested Negative to #COVID19 and will now proceed on a 14-day SELF-ISOLATION as mandated by @NCDCgov, @Fmohnigeria, and Presidential Task Force on #COVID-19."
