The Delta State Police Command has deployed 1,000 personnel to security ahead of the coronation of the Olu of Warri, Omoba Tsola Emiko, on Saturday, August 21, 2021.

Police Criminal Investigation Department, Zone 5 in Benin City, Edo State, had on Monday, declared two sons of the immediate past Olu of Warri, Oyowoli Emiko and Omatsuli Emiko wanted over the missing crown.

Following heightened tension in the Warri Kingdom, as the coronation draws nearer, the Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Ari Muhammed Ali, said the 1,000 police personnel would ensure effective security before, during and after the ceremony.
The deployment included two bomb squads, which would begin operation 48hours before the coronation day to sweep the venue and ensure it is completely rendered safe.

It also deployed two units of mobile police personnel, conventional police officers and traffic personnel for the event.

The CP equally warned trouble makers to steer clear of Warri and its environs, as the command would deal decisively with anybody or group that disrupt or breach the peace during the ceremony.

“All that needs to be done to ensure that the event is hitch-free and devoid of violence has been put in place,” he said.

Ari also directed the Area Commander, Warri Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Operations Officers of the command to leave no stone unturned in ensuring thorough supervision of personnel deployed for a peaceful ceremony.
