Buhari bags appointment as coordinator of COVID-19 response in West Africa

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has been appointed as the coordinator of the COVID-19 response in West Africa.

The appointment was bagged by the President after a teleconference meeting with members of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS.

The news was confirmed by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on New Media,

He tweeted, “the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, leaders at an extraordinary summit held by video conference have appointed President Muhammadu Buhari as the Champion to coordinate the COVID-19 response in the sub-region.

“All the other Presidents will be available to support President Buhari.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Center for Disease Control has announced that confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country has reached 873 with 28 deaths recorded.
