Amotekun: Reason why Buhari is against it - Afenifere chieftain, Adebanjo

Chief Ayo Adebanjo, a chieftain of Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has revealed why he believes the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) is against the establishment of Operation Amotekun

The Operation was launched last Thursday by the 6 governors of Southwest to help battle crime in the region.

However, barely a week old, the security outfit received a knock from the Federal Government through the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, who labeled it illegal.

Reacting to the opposition faced by Operation Amotekun, Adebanjo who spoke on Arise TV's morning show, stated that Buhari wants to rule Nigeria by force.

He said: “That is why Buhari is opposed to it because he wants to rule the country by force.

“So, those of you who are honest you need to bring Buhari to restructure this country and send us back to federalism; let everybody develop at his own pace.

“That is the constitution Sarduana, Awolowo and Azikiwe agreed to at Independence.”
