Anjuna Police in Goa, India, have apprehended a Nigerian national who was allegedly harbouring a fugitive involved in an international sex trafficking racket.

It was gathered that the the primary suspect, known as Olokpa, has been evading law enforcement, prompting a determined effort to locate and apprehend him.

The arrested individual, identified as 32-year-old Charles Aihun, was found present at the locations where the fugitive Olokpa had been staying, police said on Thursday, September 14, 2023.

The investigation revealed that Charles had been actively aiding Olokpa by providing information about the movements of the Goa Police team in Bengaluru. This collaboration was aimed at allowing Olokpa to avoid capture.

Despite the Goa Police team's efforts to track down Olokpa on two separate occasions, he managed to evade capture each time.

However, the persistence of law enforcement ultimately led them to Charles Aihun in Bengaluru.

Charles Aihun has been placed under arrest by Anjuna Police under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 370, 370 (A), 370(3), 212 r/w 34, as well as Section 4, 5, and 8 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

He has been remanded to police custody for five days as the investigation into this international sex trafficking racket continues.

“The Goa Police, in collaboration with local authorities, remain committed to bringing all those involved in this illicit activity to justice, with a particular focus on locating and apprehending the fugitive Olokpa. Further developments in this case are anticipated as the investigation unfolds,” the police said.
