Bandits kill traditional ruler, abduct former PDP chairman, seven others In Zamfara

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed the village head of Gwaram community, Talatan Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The gunmen, who stormed the village in the early hours of Monday with motorcycles, also abducted eight people including the wife of the village head and former ward chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Musa Makeri.

A spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, Shehu Mohammed, confirmed the incident on Thursday.

Mohammed said the village head was shot dead after refusing to be kidnapped by the bandits and saying he preferred to be killed in his community than to be taken to the bush.
