The Lagos State Government has arrested five individuals suspected to impersonate Local Government Traffic officers.

The five suspects namely: Taiwo Falodun aged 48; Mukaila Atanda also aged 48; Adedire Olaniyi, 4; Chibuzor Eze, 26; and Akinseye Alex 48 were accused of extorting motorists plying LASU - Igando expressway.

The suspects, who claimed to be on contract with the Ikotun-Igando LCDA, were arrested yesterday afternoon after one Professor Abdulrahman Olayiwola reported that they collected the sum N41,000 from him for driving too slow on the expressway.

Explaining how they operate, the suspects confessed that extortion was done either in cash or through POS machine allegedly owned by one of the suspects, while payment tickets issued to their victims were also recovered from the team.



In his confessional statement, Taiwo Falodun, a dismissed Spy Policeman and the gang leader, said there are three teams operated within the axis for Ikotun-Igando LCDA.

He also revealed that over 15 private vehicles and two commercial buses had been impounded by the miscreants with their tires deflated. He also added that they were engaged by the Local Government Council on contract and that the team remits N20,000 weekly to the LCDA.
