Kano State Hisbah to arrest the women Kano State Hisbah to arrest the women

The Kano State Hisbah Board, on Thursday, said it had apprehended two women suspected to have stolen clothing materials and kitchen utensils at the Kantin Kwari and Kofar Wambai markets in the Kano Municipal Local Government Area of the state.

The Commander-General of the Board, Harun Sani Ibn Sina, told journalists in Kano that the two women, Hadiza Musa and Rukayya Shu’aibu, were arrested following the disappearance of some ankara textile fabrics shortly after they indicated interest to procure them.

“When a trader in one of the markets noticed that three ankara materials were missing from his collection after one of the women indicated interest in buying his wares, he raised the alarm, which attracted Hisbah guards,” the commander-general stated.

The Hisbah boss explained that after careful scrutiny by the personnel attached to the market, three new Ankara wrappers concealed underneath Hadiza’s dress were discovered, while the missing kitchen utensils were found in Rukayya’s possession, adding that the latter confessed to having stolen them from the Kofar Wambai Market before moving to the Kwari Market, where they were arrested.

The suspects, in an interview with journalists, confessed to the crime, disclosing that they came to Kano from Katsina to visit a relative and decided to visit the two markets even though they did not have money.

However, both women pleaded for leniency and promised not to engage in any act capable of tarnishing their image, claiming that this was the first time they had engaged in such an act.

According to the Kano State Hisbah Board, the women will be handed over to the relevant authorities after the conclusion of the investigation and reiterated its determination to eradicate all forms of ill vices.
