Two women in court for allegedly threatening to kill club member’s husband, children

The police on Tuesday arraigned two businesswomen who allegedly threatened to kill their club member’s husband and children in a Magistrates’ Court in Makurdi.

The police charged Chinyere Okorie and Ugo Ogbo with two counts of criminal conspiracy and intimidation punishable under sections 97 and 397 of the Penal Code Laws of Benue, 2004.

However, they pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Omaye Ojata, told the court that the complainant, Mrs Cordelia Ajah, reported the matter at the ‘C’ Division Police Station, Northbank, Makurdi on Sept 20.

Ojata alleged that the defendants made the threat at a village meeting of “ Ishiagu Women Wing”.

She said the defendants and the complainant were members of the wing.

The Magistrate, Mr Peter Chaha, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum N200, 000 each and one reasonable surety each in like sum.

Chaha adjourned the matter until Nov. 9 for further mention.
