Three men appear before court for stealing MTN cable

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court began the trial of three men who were arrested by the state's police for the alleged theft of MTN cable.

According to the prosecutor, Insp Oriyomi Akinwale, the defendants-Junaid Olayinka, 39; Olatunde Ayeni, 38; and Alake Kunle, 40, who are facing a one-count charge of stealing, committed the crime on May 13 at about 2.p.m. at Atlas Area of Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendants stole a cable valued at N500,000, the property of MTN Telecommunications.

Akinwale said the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The case, however, had to be adjourned by the court until July 8 upon the prosecutor's request to enable him to present his witnesses.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olanike Adegoke, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N200,000 with one surety each in like sum.

The defendants have all pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them.
