Suspected kidnapper in Kano police net

The police in Kano State have arrested a suspected kidnapper in Soro Daya village in the Tsanyawa Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, in a statement on Tuesday, said a complaint was lodged on September 1, 2021, by a resident that he was contacted on the telephone to pay N1m or risk being abducted with his children.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, Sama’ila Dikko, raised and instructed a team of detectives, led by SP Shehu Dahiru, to trace and arrest the culprit.

“The team swiftly swung into action. Following credible intelligence and sustained follow-ups, the team traced and arrested the suspect, Tukur Ahmad, 28 years old, 24 days after the report,” Haruna said.

He noted that during preliminary investigation, the suspect disclosed that he was a relative of the complainant and confessed that he contacted him.The police spokesman said the suspect would be prosecuted at the end of investigation.
