Sanusi’s principal private secretary, Mujtaba Abba has revealed that recovering the books of the deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II took him two days.

The former traditional ruler loved books and was said to have over 40,000 of them, including journals, cataloged at an expansive library.

With everything happening to him as fast as the speed of light on Monday, March 9, 2020, the emir's principal private secretary, Mujtaba Abba, said Sanusi was greatly concerned about his books.

The books' worth in value is about N200 million.

Abba's task was to make sure the books were safely evacuated from the palace. He said the process took two days, as he admitted to losing sleep over the matter.

"His Highness greatest concern was the fate of his books, so my sister and I stayed behind to ensure that we evacuated all the books. It took us sleepless nights to accomplish the task in two days.

"I made most of the transactions for the purchase of the books, and I can tell you, in a conservative estimate, they’re worth over N200m,” he disclosed.
