The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a 65-year retired general manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Mr Bashir Abdullahi, at Barasa Forest in the Sumaila Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi, in a statement in Kano on Thursday, said a team of the Operation Puff Adder had been deployed to rescue the victim.

He said, “On November 3, 2021, around 4:30 pm, a report was received that one Bashir Abdullahi, 65-year-old, of Sitti village, Sumaila LGA, Kano State, was kidnapped by unknown persons on his farm at Barasa Forest, Gomo village, Sumaila LGA, Kano State, a border town with Bauchi State.

“On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, raised and instructed teams of the Operation Puff Adder to rescue the victim and arrest the culprits.”

Abdullahi said the team had since swung into action, adding that preliminary investigation revealed that the victim relocated to his farm in the forest about two weeks ago.

He urged residents to continue to pray for the state and the nation, be security conscious and report any suspicious person or movement to the nearest police station.
