Police arrest suspected drug addict for stabbing apprentice to death in Osun

A suspected drug addict, Abdulafeez Shorinmade, has been arrested by men of the Osun State Police Command in Iwo, after stabbing to death one Rofiyat Rasaki at Kajola area of the town.

Abdulafeez, who was said to have fled the scene after committing the crime, also allegedly stabbed and injured an 18-year-old Sawiyu Nasrup, at Soba Area also in Iwo.

Responding to a distress call from the scene of the crime, police operatives were said to have stormed the area, gave the suspect a hot chase and eventually apprehended him.

When contacted on Friday, Osun Police Command Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the attacks, saying the suspect carried out the attacks with a pair of scissors.

She also said the first victim of the attack bled to death, but the second victim only sustained injuries and had been treated at a hospital and discharged.

“At about 9:30pm at Kajola area, Iwo, one Abdulafeez Shorinmade of Feesu, Iwo, suspected to be under the influence of drugs armed himself with a pair of scissors and stabbed one Rofiyat Rasaki, a 20-year-old lady on the neck and she bled to death. The suspect fled the scene.

“On getting to Soba Compound, he equally stabbed another female by name Sawiyu Nasrup, aged 18-year-old, on her chin. The DPO and his team swiftly raced to the scene of the crime and the suspect was given a hot chase and was arrested.

“The injured person was rushed to the hospital where she was treated and discharged. The corpse of the second victim was taken to the general hospital,” Opalola concluded.
