Police arrest suspected armed robber, recover pistol in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State police, on Monday, August 23, arrested a suspected armed robber identified as Merit Salvation.

A statement in Yenagoa by a spokesman for the state police command, SP Asinim Butswat revealed that a locally-made pistol and ammunition were recovered from the 23-year-old.

According to Butswat, the suspect was arrested by operatives of the Azikoro division with support from youths and vigilantes of the Akaba community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area.

“Operatives of the Azikoro division in collaboration with youth leaders and vigilantes of Akaba community have arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a locally-made pistol and three .99 ammunition.

“The suspect is cooperating with the police in their investigation,” he said.
