A former spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, has been sentenced to seven years in prison by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

The judgment was delivered by Justice Okon Abang over a N400m fraud and money laundering case which was levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The N400m was transferred to Metuh's company, Destra Night Ltd, from Office of the National Security Adviser, which the court stated that he was aware of.

Abang said, "The fact of this case is that it is a story of shame and moral decay we live in this country by dissipating public funds recklessly.

"It is an endemic disease that has eaten deep into the fabrics of this nation.

"There must be a change in the way we do things in this country."
