Man gets 22 years jail term for raping 14-year-old stepdaughter in Cross River

Emmanuel Thompson Udo has been sentenced to 22 years imprisonment by a High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State capital for raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter.

He was found guilty of raping the teenager on August 15, 2018.

He carried out the diabolic act at his residence on No 54 Afokang Street, Calabar South Local Government Area.

Delivering her judgement on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, Justice E. E. Ita, Acting Chief Judge of the state, sentenced Udo to 22 years jail term without an option of fine.

His conviction was secured, courtesy of the Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI); Hon. Tanko Ashang, Attorney General of Cross River State; Mr Felix Itittim, the DPP; Blessing Egwu and the Nigeria Police Force.
