Man, 20, docked over alleged break-in, attempted theft

A 20-year-old man, Yusuf Kazeem, on Friday appeared in an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos over alleged breaking-in and attempted theft.

Kazeem, whose address and occupation were not provided, is facing a two-count charge of breaking-in and attempted theft.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Mary Ajiteru told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 9, at 2:00 a.m., at 34 Araromi St., Majidun, Ikorodu, Lagos.

Ajiteru said that the defendant unlawfully entered Ms Yemisi Acha’s room through the ceiling with intent to steal.

She said that the offences contravened sections 307 (1) (a) and 406 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mr M.O. Dawodu, granted the defendant N50, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Dawodu adjourned the case until Jan. 30, for further mention.
