Lai Mohammed lashes at Kukah over FG, Boko Haram statement

Lai Mohammed Lai Mohammed

The minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has reacted to a statement by Bishop Matthew Kukah of the Catholic Church in which he likened the Federal Government to Boko Haram insurgents.

MyNigeria reported that Kukah had stated that the Federal Government and Boko Haram have same thing in common which is to achieve the Islamization of Nigeria.

Reacting to the statement, Lai Mohammed stated that Kukah should rather focus on his duties as a clergy instead of dividing the country along religious lines.

This is contained in a statement made available to MyNigeria.

Mohammed said Kukah's statement "is not only disingenuous but also a great disservice to the men and women in uniform who are daily battling the Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists to keep all Nigerians safe."

The federal government added that the actions of insurgents should in no way be seen as an effort by the Federal Government to rid the country of a religion.

"To now attribute the actions of these mad bunch to an orchestrated and systematic plan to elevate one religion over the other or decimate adherents of a particular religion is not only unfortunate but divisive, incendiary and insensitive,'' he said.
