The Cross River State Police Commissioner, Sikiru Kayode Akande has confirmed the murder of a 58-year-old businesswoman in Calabar seven days after the incident.

He made the confirmation yesterday, April 20 in Calabar while parading 30 suspects held for sundry crimes in the state.

Among them were two alleged to be involved in the murder of the businesswoman, Doris Andy Inyang.

The lady was killed in her residence at State Housing Estate, Calabar by armed robbers on April 13, but the police were not forthcoming with information despite all enquiries by The Nation.

"My mother was murdered and I swear to God the people that did this will never go free. Please I need help in any way to follow up this case. My mother was beaten and murdered in cold blood. My heart will not rest until justice is found.

“This happened in State Housing Estate Calabar and in her room. She was raped, beaten, strangled and had her wrist slit. They took away some documents…I don’t know how much. They also stole my car from the compound. If anyone has seen a grey Nissan Senta 2016; I’ll appreciate all the help I can get. I’ll drop more detail about the car,” the deceased's son said on Twitter.

The men Godwin Anthony Nyenine and Mighty Eteng Omini have been arrested as suspects.

The business woman’s house help is said to be an informant.
