Hairdresser lands in court for allegedly beating police woman

A 43-year-old hairdresser, Oluwayemi Olayinka, who allegedly beat up a policewoman and threatened to kill another on Tuesday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’Court.

Olayinka, who resides in Olorunshola area, Ayobo Ipaja, is charged with assault and threat to life.

The prosecution counsel, Sgt. Chekube Okeh told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 29 in Ayobo Police Station.

Okeh alleged that the defendant threatened to kill W/Sgt. Roseline Ayemowa when she went to her house to invite her daughter, Latifat, to the police station for a case she was mentioned in.

Ayemowa also alleged that the defendant was arrested and brought to the police station and while at the station, she slapped W/Sgt. Bisi Ogundimu on her face.

Okeh also alleged that she tore Ogundimu’s uniform.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 56, 173 and 174 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate A.O. Akinde admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

Akinde adjourned the case until April 2 for mention.
