Gunmen gun down three policemen in Delta

• Three police personnel were shot by unidentified gunmen

• The gunmen attacked a police station

• Two of the bandits were also shot down by the police

Three people were killed by unknown gunmen yesterday, May 28, in Ndowka East Council of Delta State.

The gunmen attacked the Umutu Police station and took the lives of a senior Police officer and two rank and file officers, two days after a police officer was killed at Akwukwu-Igbo in Oshimili North Council of the state.

According to reports, the incident happened at about 1:30 am. The bandits attempted to break into the station. Reports further indicated that two of the bandits were shot down by the police.

Police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, confirming the incident stated that two cops died during the attack, while another died due to high blood pressure occasioned by the incident, saying the intention of the attackers was to burn down the station but were resisted.
