Ganduje accuses governors of playing politics with almajiri

Abdullahi Ganduje Abdullahi Ganduje

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has accused governors in the northern region of playing politics with the issue of almajiri children.

MyNigeria.com recalls that some almajiri children were deported from Kano State to their state of origin so as to curb the spread of COVID-19. Those from other states were also deported to Kano being their state of origin.

MyNiegria.com also learnt that many of the deported almajiri children tested positive for COVID-19. This was corroborated by Governor Nasir El-rufai who received some in Kaduna State.

Speaking during a daily press briefing, Ganduje stated that those received in Kano also tested positive for the virus.

“Yes, some of the Almajiri that were brought from other States to Kano State were confirmed positive of the virus, some of them that were taken to other States were confirmed positive.

“The only difference is that Kano State is not playing politics out of it and therefore did not come out to say that the children brought from Bauchi, brought from Plateau or brought from other States have tested positive.

“Certainly, what they need is not publicity, what they need is attention because the infection had already taken place. So there is nothing we can do about that,” he said.
