The Lagos State Government has pulled down the statue of late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, which was at Allen Avenue roundabout, Ikeja.

The spokesperson to the governor, Gboyega Akosile revealed that the statue got pulled down because it was located at a roundabout that experiences traffic gridlock.

Other areas experiencing traffic gridlock were identified as Ikotun, Lekki-Epe Expressway and Maryland.

Akosile who spoke to newsmen also revealed that the Fela statue will be relocated to a part of the state that doesn't experience traffic gridlock.

The statue was mounted by the former administration led by Akinwunmi Ambode in honor of the Afrobeat legend.
