The Uyo zonal command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission compromising Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, said it has secured 60 convictions and recovered over N300m from corrupt officials between January,2019 till date.

The anti-corruption stakeholders including Civil Defence Corps, Roads Safety walk around the major displaying placards of various descriptions some of which reads " Kill corruption now" let us move against corruption"

Speaking after the road walk, head of the Uyo, Garba Dugum, lauded the operatives for the feat and reiterated the determination of the zonal office to ensure a corrupt-free society.

"From January to date, the number of convictions in our office alone is over 60. Here in Uyo, we have a recovery of over N300m. This is a small office compared to other places in other big offices. We are trying to see that we move forward".

He denied insinuations that the anti-corruption campaign is targeted against perceived enemies, adding that there are people in government that have been convicted by the anti-graft agency.

Dugum said, "I don't succumb to the notion that the crusade is one-sided. There are some people who are in various political divides that have been prosecuted already.

"Even the government in power, whosoever is found wanting, EFCC will go after and investigate the level of his culpability, and if at the end of the day, we have enough evidence against him, he will be sent to jail. We don't do selective justice here"

He explained that the reason for the road work was to sensitise other stakeholders and the public in the fight against corruption.
