The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has reacted to pictures making the rounds on social media about their Port Harcourt zonal office.

The pictures were shared on Twitter showing some young men believed to be suspects cramped in a compound.

This led to an outcry over the inhumane conditions the suspect were kept at the building purported to belong to the EFCC.

In reaction, the anti-graft agency shared the picture of their Port Harcourt zonal office which looks different from what is being peddled as their office.

They issued a statement saying:

"The picture in the foreground is the Holding facility at the Port Harcourt Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. It is not an open air enclosure and not bordered by any building.

"There is also no security wire mesh around the fence.

"This certainly has no resemblance to the fake picture put out in a tweet by @TheRealDayne

"EFCC detention Centres subscribe to the best standard of care for inmates in line with global practice.

"If it were not so, suspects standing trial for corruption, would not prefer to be remanded in the custody of the Commission. Moreover, they would have challenged the Commission for rights violation. Further investigations will be carried out to ascertain the purveyor of this".
