A supremacy clash between rival cults on Sunday created tension on Mumuni Adio Badmos Road, Ijegun Egba, in the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the cultists engaged one another in a free-for-all using different weapons, including guns.

During the clash, residents and business owners reportedly scampered for safety, as the hoodlums took advantage of the unrest to dispossess people of their valuables.

A source said one person, who was injured, was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, adding that the gang members fled after the police arrived in the area.

“The material loss is enormous, with a lot of money stolen. After the fight, they escaped through an estate. They collected N1,600 and the phone of a barber I know. A trader selling foodstuffs was also robbed of two phones at gunpoint,” the source added.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the clash.

“We have mobilised enough patrol teams to the scene to maintain law and order. No need for panic,” he stated in a WhatsApp message.
