A Magistrates’ Court in Ogudu in Lagos, on Monday, ordered that 17-year-old boy who allegedly defiled a nine-year-old girl, be remanded in the Nigeria Correctional Service in Kirikiri, pending legal advice.

Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje declined to take the plea of Atte but ordered the police to return his case file to the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

Kubeinje adjourned the matter until March 4.

The police charged the minor, an apprentice, who resides with his parents at Oduntan Street, Ketu, with defilement.

The prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihiehie told the court that the offence was committed on Jan. 27 at the defendant’s residence.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
