An Osun State Civil Servant, Samson Ayenioye and a filmmaker, Tunde Amoke have been remanded by an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl.

Daily Post reports that the civil servant, a former financial accounting teacher at Osogbo Grammar School and his friend, Amoke were arrested for allegedly raping the teenager on different occasions.

Ayenioye had recently been transferred from the school to the State Ministry of Education.

The duo committed the offence around February 2020 at Latona area.

The State Counsel Bankole Awoyemi prayed the court to take over the case from the police prosecutor.

He alleged that the accused persons indecently assaulted and unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a 16-year-old girl.

The offence committed was contrary to and punishable under Section 31(1)(2) of the Child Right Law of Osun state 2007, Sections 516 and 360 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun State 2002.

The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegations preferred against them.

Defence Counsels, led by Chief Bola Abimbola Ige, prayed the court to grant their clients’ bail in the most liberal and affordable terms.

Ige further stressed that the accused persons will provide reliable sureties if granted bail.

In his ruling, Magistrate Taofeek Badmus ordered the police prosecutor to handover the case file to the state counsel.

He also ordered the remand of the accused persons at Ilesa Correctional Centre.

He, thereafter, adjourned the case till November 4, 2020, for ruling on bail and November 19, 2020, for hearing.
