Command intensifies probe into Osun residents’ death

Some police detectives on Wednesday stormed Oke Suna Area of Apomu, Osun State, where seven persons were discovered dead.

The deceased were found dead in their house on Tuesday, creating panic in the town.

A top security source, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent that the detectives “are already looking at some possibilities” in terms of getting clues to the circumstance that led to their death.

Police patrol van carrying armed police operatives was also observed moving around the neighborhood.Sergeant Saheed Oyewole attached to Safer Highway Patrol and Bidemi Olatunji, 40, said to be his wife, were found dead alongside five other persons in the house.

Sadiq, 14; Taiwo and Kehinde, 9; Idowu, 7; and Bose, 4, were also discovered dead in the building.Olatunji, the wife of the deceased policeman, was said to be a food vendor in Apomu.

But one Awwal Saheed, 14, was rescued alive and rushed to a private hospital in Apomu, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Also, during a visit to the neighborhood on Wednesday, it was observed that almost all the buildings in the area had been deserted.

The state police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said investigation into the matter was progressing.

Meanwhile, Osun State Government has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the deceased.

The government said this in a statement by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu.
