President Muhammadu Buhari has applauded citizens and the government of Plateau State after it produced the first woman of substance to serve Nigeria as the President of the Court of Appeal (PCA).

The President made the comment over the weekend on the first anniversary of the PCA, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, as she celebrated in Jos, Plateau.
Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau, on his part, said “for the first time, a Plateau indigene is heading the Court of Appeal and by implication a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.”

Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers were at the thanksgiving at COCIN Church in Jos, Guardian reports.

Represented by the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, the President said he was proud of the PCA’s impartial dispensation of justice and wished her success in her endeavours.
